Program Overview
The Desert Winds Training Institute's Certified Nursing Assistant Program, is designed to prepare individuals for all basic entry level medical programs. The program is structured so that classes are small and devoted to individualized instruction in order to most effectively prepare students to pass both the written and skills part of the Arizona State Board Certified Nursing Exam. The course is designed to prepare qualified individuals to be safe, caring and effective nursing assistants who work under the supervision of qualified health care professionals. Certified Nursing Assistants are trained to perform at a minimum entry level in positions normally available in long-term healthcare facilities, hospitals, home health and
health agencies. Our course is six weeks in length and consists of 60 hours of classroom instruction, 40 hours of skills lab instruction and practice and 48 hours of clinical instruction, totaling 148 hours of course work. The program
provides basic nursing assistant principals, as well as providing opportunities for practice and demonstration of skills related to patient care.
